─────────────────────────[ SYSOP'S DOCUMENTATION ]─────────────────────────
SURVIVOR! is a multi-player tank warfare game set in the distant
future. The game can handle up to 26 players. The door supports
PCBoard 11.x, 11.8+ (both Com1 and Com2), PCBoard 14.x, Wildcat, RBBS,
and BBS's that can generate DOOR.SYS files. It will also handle hi-speed
modems with locked com-ports.
This is made possible through an EXCELLENT door-writing utility
called Door Source (C)..

INSTALLATION:
Make a directory on the drive of your choice, and unzip the archive.
After un-zipping the archive, the easiest way to install the door is to run
INSTALL.EXE. If you prefer not to, or can't use INSTALL.EXE then follow
these steps:
[1] Edit SURVIVOR.CTL. SURVIVOR.CTL is an ASCII file that contains
nine sysop controlled options. List the file for complete details
about each line. Until the door is registered, SURVIVOR will use
default options.
[2] Edit SURVIVOR.BAT SURVIVOR.BAT is an ASCII file that tells your BBS
how to run the door. List the file for complete details.
[3] Reset the data files by typing "MAPEDIT RESET".
[4] Install the door in your BBS software according to the documentation
for that software.
MAINTENANCE:
The door does it's own housekeeping. There is nothing further to do.
REGISTRATION BENEFITS:
[1] MAP EDITOR - Those that choose to register this door will receive a
custom key that will allow them to create their own worlds, or edit
Gamma world by running MAPEDIT.EXE. MAPEDIT must be in the same
directory as the door itself.
MAPEDIT will allow the sysop to edit the existing world, create new
worlds from scratch, save the new worlds, and even print either a
draft or finished copy of the world map.
[2] SURVIVOR.CTL - Registered doors will use the values selected in this
file to control many of the game options, including the map to be
used during the game, the minimum and maximum number of mines and
missles each tank can carry, the range each tank may travel, and
the amount of damage each tank can absorb before being destroyed.
[3] ADDITIONAL - Once registered, both the Warp command, and the Base
command become functional. The Warp command allows a player to
instantly transport a damaged tank back to command central for
instant repairs. The Base command allows a player to switch their
Command Central base to any of the bases they may have captured.
All registered users will be entitled to free upgrades.
QUESTIONS/SUGGESTIONS/SUPPORT:
If you have questions, I will try to answer them. If you have suggestions
for improvements, let me know! Who knows, I may just use your suggestion,
and send you a free registered version of the door! If you find a bug or
error in the program, please include the error type and program counter, as
well as a brief description of what you were trying to do when the error
occurred.
TROUBLE REPORTS:
If you do get an error when running this door, it is very important that
you check the file DOOR.ERR for further information. This file will
have the date, time, error, and line number the error occured on. It
will help me help you get running!
The Support board for this door is The Electric Flamingo in Tacoma
Washington. The number is (206) 473-6561. I support 1200 to 9600
v.32 baud. I can also be reached through FidoNet. My net address is
1:138/151. I also frequent many of the echos. I do accept FREQ
requests from unlisted nodes.

HELPFUL INSTALLATION TIPS:
[1] Use the INSTALL.EXE if at all possible. It will prompt you for all
the needed information for both SURVIVOR.BAT, and SURVIVOR.CTL. It
even has context-sensitive help screens.
[2] If you are running DesqView, you may need to add the following line
to SURVIVOR.BAT before calling the door: D:\DV\DBANSI
[3] DOOR.SYS is a GAP style door file. Use it only as a last resort.
[4] To run SURVIVOR on a ProBoard 1.20 system, use the following in your
doors menu: *O*E*ZC:\PB\BATCH\SURVIVOR.BAT The *O tells ProBoard to
write a DORINFO1.DEF, the *E causes it to write EXITINFO.BBS, and
the *Z lets anything be run as if you had executed it from the
command line.
[5] Before contacting me with problems, double check both SURVIVOR.BAT,
and SURVIVOR.CTL for any obvious typos.
[6] If all else fails, please contact me via net-mail if at all
possible. Be sure when reporting errors, that you tell me the type
of equipment you are running, as well as the BBS software, Windows,
etc, and what type of door information file you are using.
* Thanks for item [2] and item [4] to Bill McPhail, and John Doty!

Version 1.1b:
Corrected the problem with locked comm ports that some sysops were
suffering.
